Illustrated talk at the Citadel: Angie Whaley LeClercq, garden and travel correspondent for the Charleston Mercury, will give an illustrated talk at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Citadel's Bond Hall 165. LeClercq will focus on the late Emily Whaley's garden at 58 Church St. and other Loutrell Brigg's Charleston gardens, as well as on gardens at Medway, Magnolia and Middleton plantations. The talk is free and open to the public.
St. Paul's Garden Club Meeting: Tom Johnson, director of gardens at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, will lecture on "The Romantic Garden" (horticulture). The club's design theme for the meeting is "Just in Time for Valentine's Day." The meeting takes place at 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at Meggett Town Hall, South Carolina Produce Building. BEEKEEPING COURSE: The Low Country Beekeepers Association will offer a South Carolina Master Beekeeper Certified Level (beginner) Short Course 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays through March 11 at Bee City, 1066 Holly Ridge Rd., Cottageville. Cost is $40. Enrollment is limited to the first 30 registrants. Lecture and Demonstration: The Council of Garden Clubs of Greater Charleston will present Frances Thrash, floral designer and master flower show judge from the Tidewater area of Virginia. 10 a.m. Tuesday at 4300 Park Circle, North Charleston. Home tours: Kiawah Island will have a self-guided tour of six island residences, a designer boutique with HGTV's "Designed to Sell" host Terry Haas, and a post-tour wine and cheese party to benefit Charleston Collegiate School. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. "Not Your Ordinary Garden Club Luncheon": A luncheon will be hosted by Alhambra Garden Club place at 11:30 a.m. March 3 at Alhambra Hall in Mount Pleasant. The fundraiser supports the club's ongoing care of the landscaping at the historic Patjens Post Office. Tickets are $35 and available only in advance. The luncheon will include a fashion show. Spring Flower Show: Berkeley Area Garden Clubs will present a spring flower show, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 6 and 7 at Cypress Gardens. 75th Annual Walking Tour of Private Houses & Gardens: The Garden Club of Charleston event takes place 2-5 p.m. April 9 and April 10. The tour will feature homes and gardens in the Historic District and flowers arranged by members of the club. Refreshments will be served. Tickets are $35, and may be purchased in advance.
