Train hits auto left on tracks
Authorities are investigating a Wednesday incident in which a CSX freight train hit a car
on the railroad track.
The incident took place at 9:30 p.m. on tracks near Nad Road in Berkeley County, said S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Bob Beres.
An unidentified person drove a Mazda sedan about 100 feet off the road and onto the tracks.
The train's video showed the driver jumping out of the car moments before it was struck, Beres said.
The car was registered to a Moncks Corner address, Beres said. Further details were unavailable.
The case remains under investigation.
