What: Kinderpuppy Dog Obedience

When: 6:30-7:30 p.m. weekly beginning Aug. 23

Where: IOP Recreation Center, 24 28th Ave.

Details: The class is for puppies 8 weeks-5 months old. Puppies do not attend first class. Participants must pay the registration fee, have shot records and sign up prior to class. Registration forms available at www.purelypositive.com or at the Recreation Center. The cost is $90 Isle of Palms residents, $95 nonresidents.

What: Companion Dog Obedience

When: 7:30-8:30 p.m. weekly beginning Aug. 23

What: Tom Cat Blitz

Who: Pet Helpers

When: Aug. 29 by appointment.

Where: Pet Helpers Spay and Neuter Clinic, 1447 Folly Road

Details: Male cats will be neutered for $15. Two vaccines are required. Cat owners will need to show proof of current Rabies and FVRCP (Distemper combo) vaccinations for their pet or they may get the vaccines on the day of the surgery for $5 each. Microchips will be also available for $10. Cat owners must make an appointment and only tame cats are eligible.

What: Lowcountry Paws and Claws Pet Expo

When: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 18

Where: Exchange Park Fairgrounds

Details: Bring your furry or feathered friend to the second annual Lowcountry Paws & Claws Pet Expo, a free event sponsored by The Post and Courier, that includes fun and educational demonstrations and presentations and more.

What: Paws in the Park

Who: Charleston Animal Society

When: Oct. 9

Where: Park Circle, North Charleston

Details: Paws in the Park and Walk for the Animals is an all day event featuring the Walk for the Animals fundraiser, games, food, live music and activities for pets and their families.

What: Adopt-A-Thon.

Who: Charleston Animal Society.

When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. first and third Saturday of every month.

Where: PetSmart in the Belle Hall Shopping Center, Long Point Road, Mount Pleasant.
