Today
• The “Sitting on Chrome” car club will host a show 2-9 p.m. at 4401 Piggly Wiggly Dr. in North Charleston. Registration, which is 2-7:30 p.m., is $15 for club members and $20 a car for non-members. Specialty awards are best display, interior, paint job and show car or truck; muscle car or truck; and sexiest lady. There will be an after-party at Highrise on Rivers Avenue. • A Cars & Coffee brunch cruise-in will be held 10 a.m.-noon at Iacofano’s in Moultrie Plaza on Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant. There are no rules, judges, or trophies ... just breakfast. • Duke’s Barbecue and Bill Bennett Classic Cars will present the Top 10 Open Car Show at Duke’s, 949 Robertson Blvd. in Walterboro. There will be top 10 awards for model years 1900-2010, plus “best in show” sponsored by Blocker Boys. Registration is $5. The events are every third Wednesday or the month with future shows on Sept. 15, Oct. 20 and Nov. 17. • A cruise-in will be held 5-8 p.m. at Hutchinson Square in Summerville as part of a monthly entertainment event sponsored by the city’s historic downtown district. • Cruisin’ the Georgetown Boardwalk will be held 6-9 p.m. on Front Street in Georgetown. The event, sponsored by Winyah Cruisers, is free. Display your car, then dine and take a stroll downtown.
Aug. 21
• Lowcountry Shine & Swapp “Anything On Wheels” will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coastal Carolina Flea Market, located off Interstate 26 at College Park Road exit 203 in Ladson. The car show and swap meet, sponsored by Lowcountry Mopars, is open to all vehicles. The event is free to all participants. There will be top 10 trophies and Manager’s Choice. • The All American Auto and Bike Show will be held at the North Charleston Fire Museum. Registration, which is 10 a.m.-2 p.m., is $20. Trophies will be presented around 6 p.m. For more information, contact Rodney at (843) 864-1861.
• The Walterboro Cruisers will hold a Cruise-In 6-8 p.m. at Hill Tire, 506 Robertson Blvd. in Walterboro. The event is open to cars, trucks and motorcycles. There’s no fee to attend or participate. Aug. 22
• The 2010 Stop the Violence South Car & Bike Show will be held 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. at 5500 International Blvd. in North Charleston. Featured celebrities include members of Young Money, TK and Cash (DTP), L.T.O. aka Little Throwwed OFF and Mr. Matter of Fo Sho Recordz. Along with the show, there will be music, games, prizes, dancing, jump castles, water events and a hot wing eating contest. Aug. 28
• Coastal Carolina Corvette Club will present its first “Summer Cool Down” Indoor Car Show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Omar Shrine Temple, 176 Patriots Point Road in Mount Pleasant. This is a pre-registration show only and is limited to the first 80 vehicles. Registration, which is $20, must be received by Wednesday. There will be 30 trophies awarded by class size and a Sponsor’s Choice Best in Show Trophy. Classes are Corvettes; sport compacts; Mustangs; street rods; trucks; and years 1900-62, 1963-71, 1972-89, 1990-2005 and 2006-present.
