Allen U. president placed on leave
COLUMBIA — Allen University has placed its president on an indefinite leave following a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against the school.
WIS-TV reported Wednesday that university trustees also named Pamela Wilson as interim president to replace Charles Young.
It's not clear what role university administrator Sonya Melton's lawsuit against Young played in the board's vote on Tuesday.
Melton sued in June, accusing Young of coercing her into having sex and attempting to control her relationships, and choking and shoving her between 2006 and 2008. Young has said he never harassed Melton and was not retaliating against her when she lost her job as associate vice president for enrollment management.
A spokeswoman for Allen did not immediately return a message.
