Traffic is backed up in the Don Holt Bridge on I-526 about 9 a.m. this morning.

All lanes on Interstates 26 and 526 now are opened to traffic again after multiple wrecks caused major rush-hour delays on both interstates this morning.

The driver of a tractor-trailer was ejected from his vehicle after a wreck in the westbound lane between North Rhett and Virginia avenues. The truck lost its load and leaked fuel onto the bridge. DHEC employees are on scene cleaning up the leak.

Two more wrecks on the eastbound lanes completely shut down that side for portions of the morning commute, said Spencer Pryor, public information officer with North Charleston Police.

The Highway Patrol spent the morning working three wrecks involving 11 vehicles.

As of 8:35 a.m., all of the eastbound lanes on Interstate 26 were opened to traffic, said Lance Cpl. Bob Beres.
