Police seek hit-and-run driver
The Highway Patrol is looking for a man they say fled the scene of a fatal accident in Berkeley County early Sunday morning.
A 1997 Ford pickup and a 1990 Honda Accord collided head on about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on College Park Road, according to the Highway Patrol report. The driver of the Honda Accord was killed and three passengers were taken to local hospitals.
The pickup driver fled the scene on foot, police said.
Police have identified him as 24-year-old Alberto Jimenez. He's about 5 feet tall and weighs about 100 pounds. Anyone with information can call the Highway Patrol at 953-6010.
The victim was Mexican, and officials still were trying to identify him Sunday evening, Berkeley County Coroner Glenn Rhoad said.
Police continue to investigate how the accident occurred, including who crossed the center line.
