LULU: A 6-year-old female shepherd mix with a heart of gold. Previous owner said she had been abused by several of the men who were around her. Since then, she's been loved and nurtured by the Pet Helpers staff and is a sweet girl. She needs to be the only pet, however. She's not willing to share her owner with any other cats or dogs.

BUCKY: Found wandering River Road. About 5 years old and great with other dogs at the shelter. A sweet beagle, but having a very tough time with potty training because he's obviously spent a lot of time outdoors.

TONKA: A 1-year-old male who's been at Pet Helpers since he was only 5 weeks old. His five siblings were adopted long ago, but somehow he was overlooked. Sweet, but a little shy. Loves to talk and run, and gets along great with other cats.

Call Pet Helpers at 795-1110. Adoption fees are $125 for cats and dogs younger than 6 months old, $100 for cats and dogs 6 months or older, and $55 for rabbits. Adoption fees include spaying/neutering, shots, heartworm check, leukemia check, deworming, microchip, collar and tag. Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Pet Helpers Spay & Neuter Clinic is open 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Call 302-0556 to make an appointment. Visit www.pethelpers.org.
