S.C. software firm acquired, will relocate to Charleston

A Columbia-based software business has been sold and is moving its headquarters to Charleston, it was announced today.
Acadia Human Capital Solutions said it has been acquired by PMW Technologies in conjunction with a $5 million round of venture capital financing.
Also, Acadia said it has brought in two former executives of Daniel Island-based Benefitfocus to run the business, which develops software to help employers manage their human resource needs. Nate DaPore is president and chief executive officer, and John Smith is chief technology officer.
The $5 million financing round, the company's first from institutional investors, was led by Intersouth Partners of Durham, N.C. Atlanta-based C&B Capital also participated.
