Woman rescued from fire later dies
A 60-year-old West Ashley woman died after being rescued from a house fire early Sunday morning.
The Charleston County Coroner's office identified her as Terri Glenn of 1606 Holton Place. She died at Medical University Hospital from smoke inhalation, Deputy Charleston County Coroner Kelly Myers said.
The Charleston Fire Department got the call at 4:22 a.m. Sunday, Public Information Officer Mark Ruppel said. Firefighters found smoke billowing around the house and a resident outside saying a woman was inside the house. It took firefighters two tries to find Glenn because the smoke was so thick, he said.
The other resident was taken to a hospital to be checked for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, Ruppel said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
