West Ashley wreck stalls traffic
The Post and Courier
The S.C. Highway Patrol shut down a section of Paul Cantrell Boulevard near Tobias Gadson Boulevard for several hours Friday as investigators mapped out a crash scene involving a Charleston County sheriff's deputy's vehicle and a Ford Focus.
A Charleston County sheriff's deputy was involved in a wreck that tied up traffic in West Ashley for several hours Friday afternoon.
Deputy James Foster's cruiser and a 2003 Ford Focus collided about 12:50 p.m. at Paul Cantrell and Tobias Gadson boulevards, S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres said.
The deputy was taken to Medical University Hospital, and a woman driving the other car was taken to Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital.
Beres said the injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Sheriff's Lt. Mark Fields said Foster was responding to a call when the wreck occurred.
He said Foster suffered a broken arm, but he and the other driver were OK.
Patrolmen blocked the intersection until about 4:45 p.m. while they measured the roadway and re-created the accident.
The investigation was not complete late Friday, so no one had been charged.
