Georgetown man crushed and killed by crane

Tragedy strikes at new boat landing in Maryville, published in the Georgetown Times 9/3/2009

GEORGETOWN — A South Carolina man has died after he was crushed by a crane in Georgetown.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach that 43-year-old Thomas Grainger of Bucksport died about midday Thursday when part of a boom he was taking apart fell.

Grainger was working on a new boat landing for Carolina Marine Construction Inc.

The South Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death.
