The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation gave a $100,000 grant to the Lowcountry Food Bank's Growing Forward Campaign.

"We are in unprecedented times and now more than ever people in our community need our help," said Len Hutchison, Wachovia Charleston Market president.

The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation's donation will go toward the food bank's Repack Center, which allows the repackaging of bulk food items into smaller sizes, and the recovery of prepared foods through the perishable food rescue program.

"In difficult times, our clients look to our organization for the answer, and our partnership with The Wachovia Wells Fargo Foundation is a shining example of the power of community," said Jermaine Husser, executive director of the Food Bank.

The donation puts the food bank one step closer to finishing its campaign. In May, the food bank celebrated the opening of the new Paul Hulsey Community Food and Nutrition Center at 2864 Azalea Drive, North Charleston.
