Swamp juice, "Swamp Thing" at Magnolia plantation

Associated Press
Thursday, October 29, 2009

Halloween is being celebrated on one South Carolina plantation down near the swamp with swamp juice, "Swamp Thing," Gullah tales and other frights.

Beginning Thursday night at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens outside of Charleston, visitors can sip "swamp juice" — green Kool Aid — outside while watching the movie "Swamp Thing," the 1982 cult horror classic filmed in the nearby South Carolina swamps.

The eerie events, which continue through Halloween night, also include Gullah folk tales, night tram rides and a bonfire with marshmallows.
