Subway's Jared coming to town
After the monthlong Subway Fresh Fit Video and Poster Competition, students in Charleston and surrounding counties from ages 5-17 have shown they are fighting back against childhood obesity.
Nearly 400 local students participated in the contest, which was held Sept. 8-Oct.8. Youths submitted posters or videos showing how they stay healthy and fit.
On Wednesday, Subway national spokesman Jared Fogle and school representatives will recognize the area's two grand-prize winners at schoolwide assemblies.
While their names are being withheld until Wednesday, the winners are students at James Island Charter High School and St. Andrew's School of Math & Science.
Those schools will receive $1,000 fitness grants, and the winners will get $1,000 in Subway cash cards.
