Crash victims died of blunt force
JEDBURG -- Four men onboard a small plane that crashed near Summerville last week all died from blunt force injuries suffered in the crash, and not from fire, Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said Monday.
The 1976 Piper PA-23 quickly veered off course and crashed into a thickly wooded area after taking off from the Dorchester County Airport at 6:28 a.m. Wednesday.
Killed in the crash was the plane's pilot and owner, Peter Radding and three passengers -- James Randolph Hargenrader of Summerville, Edwin Steeble of Summerville and Dallas Carter of Laurel, Del.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
