So Many Dynamos
Like a chaotic collision of prog-rock, synthesized pop and post-punk, Illinois-based quartet So Many Dynamos first burst onto the indie scene in 2003 with its debut effort "Are We Not Drawn Onward to New Era?" The album was well-received by critics and the band quickly began building a grass-roots following around the Midwest. The group subsequently signed with Skrocki Records and released two more albums under the label's banner before being picked up by indie and punk label juggernaut Vagrant Records.
The band's riotous clamoring often drifts from deranged syncopation to melodic, gang harmonies and radiant rhythms that shine through the grime but never in a cheap way. The resulting music sounds similar to that of Death Cab for Cutie performing rave and classic, arcade game soundtracks.
So Many Dynamos released its latest album titled "Loud Wars" last June and a tour of the Midwest and Southeastern regions ensued. The band will perform Monday at the Tin Roof, 1117 Magnolia Road. Visit myspace.com/westashleytinroof or call 571-

Butterfly Boucher
When the Australian singer/songwriter Butterfly Boucher released her debut album titled "Flutterby" in 2003, critics and fans alike quickly learned that Boucher was much more than just a colorful name. Led by such strong singles as "I Can't Make Me" and the driving anthem of "Another White Dash," Boucher caught the attention of American audiences and Boucher was later cast as a tour mate for Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan.
Boucher went on to work on several television and movie soundtracks, including "Shrek 2," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Charmed." Now, six years after "Flutterby" was released, Boucher has returned with her latest full-length album titled "Scary Fragile" released earlier this year.
Butterfly Boucher will perform at The Pour House, 1977 Maybank Highway, Saturday with K.S. Rhoades and the fast-rising singer/songwriter Erin McCarley. Tickets are $10 at the door or at etix.com. Doors open at 8 p.m. Visit charlestonpourhouse.com for more information about the show.
