WALTERBORO -- Of the three municipal elections in Colleton County next month, only one includes an incumbent.

One incumbent, one former councilman and one newcomer are running for two Cottageville Town Council seats, while Edisto Beach has three newcomers running for two seats.

Polling sites

Lodge: Colleton County Fire and Rescue Station No. 3, 8667 Lodge Highway

Cottageville: Cottageville Municipal Complex, 72 Sally Ackerman Drive

Edisto Beach: Edisto Beach Town Hall, 2414 Murray St.

In Lodge, only one person, a newcomer, has filed to run for two open council seats. No one has filed to run for mayor.

The Cottageville race features incumbent Peggy Thomas against former councilman Jimmie Ramsey and newcomer Debbie McMillen. Ramsey is looking to get back on council after losing his seat two years ago.

Jane S. Darby, Babe Hutto and Tommy Mann are running for two Edisto Beach Town Council seats.

Donna G. McMillan will be the only candidate on the ballot in Lodge. McMillan is running for one of two council seats.

County election officials say the next mayor will be decided by write-in votes.
