Where: Palmetto Islands County Park (fenced-in Little Dog Park), 444 Needlerush Pkwy., Mount Pleasant.

Details: Westie owners meet.

What: Open House.

Who: College Park Road Veterinary Clinic and Boarding Kennel.

When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Where: Veterinary clinic, 184-186 College Park Road, Ladson.

Details: Tour clinic and kennel and meet staff. Activities, lunch, snacks, door prizes, silent auction.

What: Paws in the Park and Walk for the Animals.

Who: Charleston Animal Society.

When: Saturday.

Where: Park Circle, North Charleston.

Details: Admission $10 per dog. Humans are free. The event includes local animal experts and veterinarians, educational exhibits, vendors. Registration is 9 a.m. The walk is at 10 a.m. and Paws in the Park is 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

What: Doggy Dining, Drinks.

Who: Low Country Golden Retriever Rescue.

When: 5-8 p.m. Oct. 28.

Where: The Dog and Duck, Belle Hall Shopping Center.

Details: Join rescue for a good time on the patio. Members will be taking adoption and foster applications.

What: Howl-O-Ween.

Who: Pet Helpers.

When: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 29.

Where: Elks Lodge, 1113 Sam Rittenberg Blvd.

Details: Costumed dogs can win prizes in several categories. The "Best in Show" winner will receive a custom painting from local artist Kevin Rockwell. Entry fee per animal is $10.

What: St. Frances Animal Center's third annual Masquerade Mutt Strut.

When: 10 a.m. Oct. 31.

Where: King and Front streets, Georgetown.

Details: Dress pets and yourselves. The event includes contests, prizes, food, exhibits, adoptable pets, more. The parade starts at 10:30 a.m. and ends at East Bay Park. Registration is $10.

What: Charleston Animal Society Adopt-A-Thon

When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m., first and third Saturday of every month.

Where: PetSmart, Long Point Road, Mount Pleasant.
