North Charleston bartender Justin Carter stays Wild
Justin Carter has been bartending at Wild Wing long enough to know all your favorites. As a neighborhood staple to both college students and locals, Wild Wing on Rivers regularly features local bands, features a great happy hour, and serves up lots of tasty wing flavors. Stop in for a beer with Carter and he'll make you one of his handcrafted shots. Next thing you know you'll be partying the North Charleston way.
Q; How long have you worked here at Wild Wing?
A: Five years. This location has been open for six years this month.
Q: What's your background?
A: I'm from Maryland, and I bartended at an Italian restaurant up there starting at age nineteen. I guess being a bartender just stuck after that.
Q: What else do you do around town?
A: I actually play for the men's ice hockey team here at Wild Wing. I also enjoy fishing and boating.
Q: What's the best thing about working here?
A: I like working with my partner in crime, Jeff
Rodhead. We always seem to get into trouble during our shifts together.
Q: What's your favorite shot to prepare?
A: A Rusty Cooter -- it's actually named after me. My nickname is Cooter. It's got firefly vodka, triple sec, pineapple juice, apple juice and lime.
Q: What's the craziest thing you've seen on the job?
A: Erik Estrada (the television actor) came in one time and was dancing around to the DJ we had that night.
Q: Have you ever fallen in love while bartending?
A: I can't really answer that question until my divorce has been finalized.
Q: What's your favorite munchie on the menu?
A: Ultimate nachos -- they have anything and everything on them.
Q: What's the best local performance you've seen here?
A: I would have to go with Ariel Down. They're hard rock, and they're out of Raleigh.
Q: What do you think of North Charleston's night life?
A: I think it's underrated. I think if more people would hang out in this area, they'd realize that it's one of the Lowcountry's best kept secrets.
