Jump, Jive & Wail set Oct. 24
From big band and swing to Latin, jazz and funk, music comes alive at the 10th annual Jump, Jive & Wail 7:30-11 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Charleston Visitor Center bus shed on Meeting Street.
This annual event, which showcases the talents of some of the area's most gifted high school musicians, offers a night of music, dancing and light refreshments to benefit the music program at the Charleston County School of the Arts.
The event features a 24-member jazz ensemble under the direction of Basil Kerr, band director for the School of the Arts.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Trident Academy plans college fair
Laing Middle School PTA will host the Fall Festival & Craft Fair 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 14 at Laing Middle School (old Wando Campus), 1560 Mathis Ferry Road, Mount Pleasant, to raise money for teacher supplies and school improvements.
The school is looking for crafters, food vendors and booths for the Kid Zone. Electricity is limited, so this will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
The cost is $25 for a 12-by-12 space.
