Pike will seek District 116 seat

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Former Charleston police supervisor and current consultant Sean Pike has announced that he will run next year as a Republican for the state House District 116 seat, which covers much of southern Charleston County.

Pike, who has never sought office before, is CEO of Advancement Strategies Inc. He said he would focus on economic development and small businesses, if elected.

Pike said he has participated in recent Tea Party protests and said his platform is rooted in the principles of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

The seat, currently held by state Rep. Robert Brown, D-Hollywood, is considered Democratic turf, but Pike is unfazed. "I'll just say people are kind of tired of politics as usual," he said.
