A U-Haul employee kept a burglary suspect at bay until police arrived at the downtown business this morning.

The employee told police he was preparing to open the King Street business about 5:30 a.m. when he heard glass breaking. He walked toward the front of the store and came face to face with a burglary suspect.

The employee drew his 9 mm handgun and ordered the suspect to the ground, the report says. The employee has a concealed weapons permit.

Officers arrived at the scene, secured the employee's gun and took the suspect into custody.

Officers charged Richard Myers, 42, with first-degree burglary.
