Ben Newton has joined Legare Bailey & Hinske LLC of Mount Pleasant as a certified public accountant. Previously, he was an audit manager in the Charleston office of Dixon Hughes PLLC and he has seven years of experience in public accounting. He has a bachelor degree in accounting from Clemson University and a master's degree in accountancy from the College of Charleston.
Architecture
Emma Souder has joined SGA Architecture LLC as vice president and managing principal of the firm's Charleston office. She has a bachelor's degree from Allegheny College and a master's degree in architecture from the Catholic University of America. She has 16 years of experience, including eight years as director of the Charleston office of McMillan Smith and Partners Architects. Her main practice areas include education, commercial, and health care projects.
Government
Samuel R. Foster has been named interim executive director of the S.C. Employment Security Commission, effective Nov. 9. He succeeds Roosevelt Halley, who is retiring. Foster worked for 32 years as a public school administrator in Rock Hill and was elected as a member of the state House of Representatives serving York County from 1981 to 1991. He has a bachelor's degree from Morris College and a master's degree in education from South Carolina State University.
Higher education
Gary Milunas has been named program leader in the Health, Human Services, Environmental and Safety department in Trident Technical College's Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development. He is responsible for continuing education courses to train emergency medical technicians, limited radiographers, medical administrative assistants, medical assistants and phlebotomists. He has been an adjunct instructor at Trident Technical College for nine years. He is retired from the U.S. Air Force and has more than 28 years of experience in health-care training. He has a bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University and a master's degree from American InterContinental University.
Law
Capers G. Barr IV has rejoined the Barr Unger & Mcintosh LLC as an attorney working in the law firm's Charleston and Edisto Island office. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina and a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He was previously a member of Barr Unger & Mcintosh for nine years. Most recently, he was president of Rogers & Brown Custom Brokers Inc. and International Trade Consultants Inc. His areas of practice include civil litigation, property owners association representation, real estate, transportation and customs law.
Marta J. Borinsky and Virginia K. Murray have joined Finkel Law Firm LLC in North Charleston as associates. Borinsky's areas of practice include family law, immigration, civil litigation, criminal law. She has a bachelor's degree in history and English from the University of Pennsylvania, a master's degree in legal history from the University of Virginia Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. Previously, she was with the law firm of LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae. Murray's areas of practice include taxation, estate planning, executive compensation, civil litigation and criminal defense. She has a bachelor's degree from Charleston Southern University, a law degree from the Charleston School of Law and a master's in taxation law from Boston University Law.
Manufacturing
Andrew Crow and Stacy Jordahl have been promoted within MeadWestvaco Corp.'s Specialty Chemicals Division in North Charleston. Crow was named vice president of Asphalt Innovations. He joined the company in 1991 as a sales representative for the polychemicals department. Most recently, he was business director for Asphalt Innovations.
Jordahl was named vice president of MeadWestvaco's Pine Chemicals business. He joined the company in 1999 as a sales representative selling in the agricultural, cement additives and asphalt market segments and was named sales manager in 2001.
Bill Turner has joined North Charleston-based Folbot as a partner and vice president of the manufacturer of folding kayak, with a focus on operations. Previously, he worked in the insurance and commercial banking industry. He has a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Georgia.
Real estate
Larry Willey has joined Caldwell Commercial Real Estate Services as a specialist in office, medical office and investment property. He has more than 25 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. Previously he was principal at Healthcare Real Estate Strategies. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and a master's degree from Georgia State University.
Restaurant
Andrea Felber has been named special events director for Oak Steakhouse, 17 North and chef Brett McKee's private catering events. She has 13 years of experience. Previously, she was event manager at Home Box Office in Los Angeles and event director at MTV Networks in New York City.
Retail
Frederick Jabber has joined Berlin's in Charleston as a buyer, sales associate and merchandiser. He has more than 20 years of experience in the mens fashion industry.
Technology
Brian Davis, Mike Dixon and Alexandra Haynes have joined Benefitfocus in the software company's Charleston office. Davis is technical account manager; Dixon is quality assurance analyst; Alexandra Haynes, executive assistant.
Vehicle repair
Randall Gainey has joined Glasspro as an automotive glass technician. Previously he was a was a flat glass and auto glass installer. Also, James Browning has rejoined the company as a technician. He has 17 years of industry experience.
