S.C. State's Pough earns MEAC coach of year
ORANGEBURG -- South Carolina State coach Buddy Pough repeated as Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference coach of the year in voting by league head coaches and sports information directors.
The Bulldogs led the All-MEAC team with 13 selections, eight on the first team.
S.C. State offensive tackle Johnny Culbreath was named offensive lineman of the year.
Florida A&M quarterback Curtis Pulley was named offensive player of the year, Morgan State linebacker George nabbed defensive player of the year honors and North Carolina A&T running back Mike Mayhew was rookie of the year.
Culbreath was joined on the first team by wide receiver Tre' Young, a former Burke High School standout, running back Will Ford, offensive linemen Juavahr Nathan and Josh Harrison, linebacker David Erby, cornerback Phillip Adams and placekicker Blake Erickson. Young was also second-team return specialist.
Quarterback Malcolm Long led the S.C. State second-team picks, which also included linebacker Julius Wilkerson, safety Rafael Bush and defensive end Markus James.
