Dominique Archie (bottom) and the South Carolina Gamecocks play Miami in the final of the Charleston Classic today at 6 p.m. (ESPN2) at the Carolina First Arena.
A year after Clemson won the inaugural Charleston Classic, South Carolina is attempting to follow its in-state rival.
The Gamecocks will meet Miami in the championship game at 6 p.m. today inside Carolina First Arena.
The game will be televised by ESPN2, but tickets are still available for $20. All seats inside the arena are general admission.
The Gamecocks (4-0) reached the final by getting past La Salle in the opening round and South Florida on Friday night.
The Bulls presented a challenge, with an imposing frontline comprised of two 6-10 posts. South Carolina held on for a 69-66 victory, thanks in part to making 11-of-14 free throws in the final minute, 49 seconds.
Five different Gamecocks made those foul shots. Freshman guard Ramon Galloway made three of them. Senior point guard Devan Downey had 17 to lead USC.
Meanwhile, Miami (4-0) took care of Tulane in the first round and then UNC Wilmington on Friday.
Malcolm Grant came off the bench to lead the Hurricanes with 18 points.
Last year, Clemson defeated Temple 76-72 in the title game.
Penn State (2-2) and Davidson (0-3) will begin play in the consolation bracket at 10 this morning. La Salle (2-1) and Tulane (1-2) will play at 12:30 p.m.
South Florida (3-1) and UNC Wilmington (1-3) will tip off at 4 p.m., preceding the championship game.
