Wolf Track Bar & Grill stands test of time

I have a good number of friends who grew up in and around West Ashley, particularly in the area around S.C. Highway 61.

When talking with one friend recently about the bars that have been in existence the longest on that strip, three immediately came to his mind: R Pub, Back Nine Pub and the oldest of the bunch, Wolf Track Bar & Grill.

The unassuming building on Parsonage Road is a second home for many, attracting a loyal clientele.

Very no-frills, the Wolf Track is a mostly local, blue-collar crowd, who enjoy their lunch, dinner or drinks in a laid-back atmosphere.

The Wolf Track also has an outdoor patio that is ideal when the weather cooperates.

The bar offers live music, where local favorites such as the Hed Shop Boys, Tuba Jim and Roy, Trick Knee, Fat Alice and Frank Royster have become mainstays.

The music veers more toward classic rock or blues, which is always a perfect fit for the Wolf Track crowd. Karaoke and open mike nights are also aplenty.

My West Ashley friend used to find himself walking past the Wolf Track before he was too young to get in, and now in his early '30s, often finds himself on the inside.

And if longevity can be a reasonable indication of quality, that so many have made the Wolf Track Bar & Grill a regular habit for so long means they must be doing something right.
