It's (almost) Turkey time
A good Thanksgiving meal can still be yours.
The Peninsula Grill's Thanksgiving Day menu will be offered from 3-10 p.m. Nov. 26 and is available for $60 per person. Dinner service also will be available a la carte from 5:30-10 p.m.
Reservations are highly recommended and can be made by calling 723-0700. Peninsula Grill is at 112 North Market St.
Virginia's on King will serve Thanksgiving supper 3-8 p.m. In addition to the full menu, holiday-inspired dishes will be offered. Bottled wine will be half-price between 4-7 p.m.

McCrady's is having a special, as well, for the holiday. Catch its three-course menu for $45. Call 577-0025. McCrady's is at 2 Unit Alley.
Scratch Thanksgiving
Whole Foods Market in Mount Pleasant is featuring Thanksgiving dinners for $14 each. They require advance ordering. Call 971-7240 or click www.wholefoodsmarket.com/holidays.
And when this day for giving thanks and feasting begins and you have burned the butter, wrecked the rice, forgot the cranberries or need to get out of the kitchen, they are open from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
The Glass Onion restaurant, 1219 Savannah Highway, wants to be a friend to the busy cook, too. You can order seasonal sides, soups and desserts to pick up before Thanksgiving. Dishes include cornbread dressing (with or without oysters), butternut squash soup and chocolate pecan pie. The restaurant uses primarily local ingredients in these dishes. Fourth and flipping
Five Guys Burgers and Fries has opened its fourth location in the Lowcountry near the Tanger Outlet Mall. Five Guys is at 4959 Centre Point Drive, North Charleston. For more information call 744-7277.
Sip and stroll
Rick Rubel, sommelier extraordinaire, will guide your taste buds on a "walk about" tasting and wine sale at The Charleston Grill Cellar at The Charleston Place Hotel on Nov. 27-28 from noon until 3 p.m.
A sampling of 25-30 wines selected by Rubel as great values for the holidays will be tasted and available for purchase. The admission is $20 and is fully refundable with a case purchase. For more information, call 577-4522.
Defying the odds
We continue to see new restaurant openings in our communities. Now open or soon to open:
--Market Street Saloon at 7690 Northwoods Blvd. in the former Sticky Fingers location. 576-4116.
--Amen Street Fish and Raw Bar at 205 East Bay St. Open seven days from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. with bar service until 2 a.m. 853-8600.
--Beef O' Brady's opens again with new owners and a full bar. The actual opening date is pending but should be very soon. Not much will change as this is a franchise. Local fans were happy to see "re-opening soon."
--You knew it as Little Thai Too, then Fused, then closed. Well, this Asian phoenix has risen again as Tasty Thai at 350 King St. They are open seven days. For information, call 577-8813.
--Chopsticks House is now at 86 Society St. For hours and information, call 965-5866.
--Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant crosses the river and opens a second location at Belle Hall Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant. They are at 660 Long Point Road. For hours and information, call 760-0731.
--Midtown Bar and Grill at 559 King St. On the menu: meat and three, barbecue, burgers, outside dining, full service bar. An opening date has not been established.
