Sydney breakfast with a view
We in the Lowcountry have run the Cooper River Bridge, walked it, biked it and motored over it untold times.
But we've never covered it with sod and held a giant picnic breakfast on it.
That's what Sydney, Australia, did recently on the 3,770-foot long, 161-foot wide Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Picture coffee, bread, jam and fruit, Australian, of course, with entertainment by local musicians all atop 10,000 square meters of Kikuyu grass (much of which will be used in Sydney parks).
Some 6,000 people were selected to take in a stunning view of Sydney during Breakfast on the Bridge as part of Crave Sydney, a celebration of Sydney with 31 days of food, outdoor art and fun.
What do you think? Could the Lowcountry do breakfast without hominy -- even if it were served with a bridge-top view of Charleston Harbor?
