By Philip Bowman
Two locals players are finalists for the state's Mr. Football Award: Goose Creek linebacker Malcolm Howard and Berkeley quarterback Bruce Ellington.
They were among the five finalist for the award, which will be presented in Myrtle Beach on Dec. 11, the night before the North-South All-Star football game.
The other candidates are Deandre Hopkins of Daniel, Marcus Lattimore of Byrnes and Dylan Pace Thompson of Boiling Springs.
To be considered for the award, a senior player must be nominated by his head coach and supported by a letter of recommendation from a non-athletic faculty member.
