Good food, good fun at Folly Crab Shack
Although the weather is cooler, Folly Beach is still a party year-round. And nowhere is this more true than at the Crab Shack.
Long known for its generous portions of fresh and affordable seafood, the casual Crab Shack atmosphere is also great for bar lounging.
On a recent trip, some friends and I enjoyed some of the Crab Shack's frozen cocktail specialties, and the "Lowcountry Lemonade" (Stoli Citrus vodka, Stoli Strasberi vodka and lemon freeze) as well as the "Shackaritas" (choice of lime, strawberry, kiwi, watermelon or peach) were big hits.
Other interesting concoctions include the "Crabby Monkey" (frozen concoction of banana rum, Kahlua, pineapple and cream of coconut) and the "Crippled Crab" (blend of mango rum, pineapple juice, sour mix and blue Curaèao).
The Crab Shack allows customers to make their own Bloody Marys on weekends 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and also features a good selection of premium wines and import beer.
The inside bar is comfy and intimate and the outdoor deck is situated right along the main Folly strip.
The crowd is a mix of old and young, both tourists and locals. Many Folly Beach regulars have made the local outpost of the popular Lowcountry franchise a regular stop, for food and more.
