Get 'Tapped' into environmental issues with outdoor movie

By Jack Hunter, Special to The Post and Courier
Thursday, November 12, 2009

'Going green" seems to be all the rage these days and two organizations are trying to get folks to go even further.

The Alliance for Planet Earth is a group of environmentally conscious College of Charleston students, who, in conjunction with the Coastal Conservation League, will present the movie "Tapped," which raises concerns about the bottled water industry and the use of plastic containers.

Long considered a basic natural resource, the documentarians cast a new light on those who bottle and market water.

There will be live music at 5 p.m. before the movie showing at 6 p.m. Saturday at Marion Square. The event is free to the public.

Following "Tapped" will be the 10-minute movie "Sustainability," produced by the Coastal Conservation League.

Organizers for the viewing encourage attendees to bring blankets for sitting.
