
The High School League released its football playoffs schedule, and Berkeley is the No. 1 seed in Division II-AAAA while Summerville is No. 2 in Division I-AAAA.
Berkeley is one of four local teams to make the II-AAAA playoffs. The other schools are Beaufort, Goose Creek and James Island. Not many people counted in the Trojans, but coach John Patterson's squad is the No. 14 seed and travels to Wren on Friday night.
Berkeley has a home game against Aiken while No. 9 Beaufort travels to Greenwood. Goose Creek, the No. 4 seed, hosts Lancaster.
If the Stags and Gators keep winning, the teams could face each other in a rematch in the Upper Bracket championship, set for Nov. 27. Berkeley beat Goose Creek 45-37 on Oct. 30.
Summerville is one of three local teams in the I-AAAA playoffs. The other schools are Fort Dorchester and Stratford.
Summerville hosts Lexington on Friday night. Stratford, seeded No. 10, travels to Gaffney, and No. 8 seed Fort Dorchester hosts Mauldin.
Summerville (10-1) gets a big break with Rock Hill landing in the Upper Bracket. Possible Division I-AAAA semifinals could feature No. 1 seed Byrnes vs. No. 4 Rock Hill and No. 2 Summerville vs. No. 3 seed Irmo. Summerville's only loss this year was a 42-35 decision to Irmo on Sept. 11.
7-AAAA volleyball
Region champ Wando landed three players on the league's all-star team: Catherine Peeples, Taylor Santos and Lauren Hurt, while the Warriors' Alexis Glover was the coach of the year. The other player selections: Morgan Lange and Tyler Bainbridge, James Island; Alicia Green and Morgan Kilgallen, Stratford; Amber Daniels and Taylor Tracy, Berkeley and Shannon Mason and Aljalena Thompson, Goose Creek.

All-star coaches
The Lowcountry will be well-represented in the coaching staffs for the Shrine Bowl and North-South all-star football games.
Timberland's Art Craig will coach South Carolina's offensive backs in the Shrine Bowl.
Stratford assistant Tony Smith will be an assistant for the South in the North-South All-Star Game as will Battery Creek's Carlos Cave.
