ST. STEPHEN -- With five minutes left in the third quarter and Timberland leading by 41 points, Wolves coach Art Craig turned to his son, quarterback Cody Craig, and told him his night was over.

Cody Craig rushed for 111 yards and Laron Milford added 106 yards and four touchdowns to lead Timberland past Marion, 44-6, in the opening round of the Class AA playoffs Friday before a crowd of about 2,000 at Timberland Stadium.

The Wolves (11-0) will take on the winner of the Woodland-Edisto game next Friday night at Timberland Stadium.

The Wolves scored on their first six offensive possessions and rolled up more than 350 yards of total offense against the Swamp Foxes.

"The offense just got into a rhythm in the first quarter and we kept rolling into the second half," Art Craig said. "It started up front with the offensive line -- they did a great job. They came off the ball really hard and everyone ran hard. We took care of business."

Cody Craig, whose 111 yards came on 12 attempts, threw a 40-yard TD pass to Bryon Mayes to start the third quarter.

"We didn't take Marion lightly -- we knew they had a good team," said Cody Craig. "They've got a very athletic team and if we messed around with them, they could cause some problems. Everything was working for us tonight and the offensive line was smelling blood all night."

The return of Milford, who had missed the last three weeks with a separated shoulder, bolstered an already potent Timberland lineup.

"He means a lot to this team on both sides of the ball," Art Craig said. "He gives us another weapon offensively and he's a very good defensive end. Having him back out here was huge for us."

Timberland's defense was nearly as impressive as its offense, holding the Swamp Foxes to 153 yards of total offense and a meaningless touchdown in the fourth quarter.

"The defense has been playing like that the last three weeks," Art Craig said. "They've been getting after people and making plays."

The Wolves set the tone in the first quarter, scoring two touchdowns on a total of seven plays. Milford finished off both drives with short TD runs.

"I thought this was going to be a lot closer than what it was," Art Craig said. "We just got on a roll and they had a tough time stopping us. It was just one of those games."
