Teen gets life for Horry killing
CONWAY -- A teen has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a college student in a fight over a parking space.
Multiple media outlets reported that a Horry County jury took about four hours Wednesday to convict 19-year-old Keion Griffin of murder.
Co-defendant Demario Stukes testified that Griffin shot Coastal Carolina University student Corey Brooks in May 2008 after knocking him to the ground with his gun.
Prosecutors say Brooks and several friends got into the fight after telling several girls in a car they couldn't park in front of a beach house at Myrtle Beach.
Griffin's lawyer says someone else shot Brooks.
Stukes also is charged with murder. A juvenile with the men has pleaded guilty and must stay in prison until he turns 21.
