Cougars favored in SoCon South; Goudelock preseason player of year

The College of Charleston and Western Carolina are the preseason favorites to win their respective divisional men’s basketball titles in 2009-10, according to a vote by the league’s head coaches. Charleston’s Andrew Goudelock is the preseason player of the year. The voting was announced today.

Goudelock, Charleston’s Tony White Jr. and The Citadel’s Cameron Wells also made the 10-man preseason all-conference team.

Charleston, which received eight first-place votes, was followed in the South by Wofford, Davidson, The Citadel, Furman and Georgia Southern.

Western Carolina received 10 first-place votes to win the North Division and was followed by Appalachian State, Samford, Chattanooga, Elon and UNC Greensboro.
