Wadmalaw Is. man charged in shooting

WADMALAW ISLAND -- A 36-year-old Wadmalaw Island man was jailed Tuesday after a shooting authorities said was a result of a domestic dispute.

Antonio Lamont Brown is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, Charleston County sheriff's Maj. John Clark said.

The shooting occurred about 8 a.m. at a Roseville Road residence, Clark said.

The victim was airlifted to Medical University Hospital, but her injuries were not life-threatening, Clark said. Brown was arrested on Wadmalaw Island about 10 a.m.

Deputies have been called to the house before for reports of domestic violence, Clark said. The last time deputies were there, the woman declined to press charges, he said.
