Book signings: Matt Lee and Ted Lee, award-winning authors who grew up in Charleston, will sign copies of their new cookbook, "The Lee Bros. Simple Fresh Southern: Knockout Dishes With Down-Home Flavor" at two locations this weekend. They will be at Williams-Sonoma, 281 King St., at 1 p.m. Saturday and at Barnes & Noble in Mount Pleasant's Towne Centre at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Also, local cookbook author Holly Herrick will be signing her "Southern Farmers Market Cookbook" (Gibbs Smith, June 2009) at Rosebank Farms' Fall Festival, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 14 at 4455 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Johns Island.

Knife Sharpening: Bring in your dull knives to the Coastal Cupboard and have them professionally sharpened for free. Learn techniques for maintaining knives at home. (Straight-edged knives only, any brand, and limit of four knives per person.) 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday. Open House: The Coastal Cupboard will have an Open House in celebration of the expanded retail space and opening of the new demonstration kitchen. Fall Harvest Dinner: Tickets are still available to the Legare Farms' Fall Harvest Dinner on Sunday. Meet the Farmer Reception at 4 p.m. followed by dinner at 5 p.m. All food is from the farm and will be prepared by local chefs. Beer, wine and live music. $50. Kosher by Design: The Jewish Women's Circle of Chabad of Charleston presents a cooking demonstration with Susie Fishbein, author of the "Kosher by Design" series of cookbooks at 7 p.m. Monday at the Holiday Inn, 250 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Mount Pleasant. Seafood dinner: The South Carolina Aquarium and Blu Restaurant & Bar are joining to offer a Sustainable Seafood dinner at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Five courses paired with wine, $55. For reservations, contact Blu at 588-6658. The restaurant is in the Holiday Inn at Folly Beach, 1 Center St.

Fall Festival: Rosebank Farms on Johns Island will celebrate its fifth annual Lowcountry Fall Festival 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14. Events include molasses-making demos at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., table arrangement demo at 10:30 a.m., broom corn demo at 2 p.m. and butterfly lectures and tours. Harvest Fare: The second annual Charleston Farmers Market Harvest Fare, co-sponsored by Stage Presence, will highlight market vendors, their produce and local chefs in a series of cooking demonstrations. Nov. 14 from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Marion Square. The demonstrations, hosted by John LaVerne, owner of Culinary Tours of Charleston, include: 9:30 a.m., MELT Down with vendor and MELT chef Nathan Albertson; 10:30 a.m., From Farm to Plate with Craig Diehl, executive chef at Cypress; 11:30 a.m., Organic Table with FIG chef Mike Lata and organic herb vendor Lee Burbage; and 12:30 p.m., Swamp Fox Dessert Treat with chef Ryan Kacenjar. Free.

Darkness to Light: Sixteen chefs from some of Charleston's best restaurants will showcase their skills as part of the CNN Circle of Light Gala on Nov. 19. Marion Square will be transformed into scenes from India for the eighth annual event, which will include gourmet cuisine, wines, a live auction and Bollywood-style entertainment. The event benefits Darkness to Light, an organization that helps prevent and raise awareness about child sexual abuse. Tickets are $300. Preferred seating tickets are available on a limited basis for $400 each. Table for eight, $2,400. Corporate tables, $5,000. Call for Festival vendors: Applications are available to become a vendor inside the FedEx Grand Tasting Tents in the Culinary Village at the 2010 BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival on March 4-7.
