Professor to speak at lupus meeting

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

The treatments and medications available for lupus patients will be the subject of the Lupus Learning and Listening Group discussion 5:45-7:30 p.m. Monday at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian's fellowship hall.

The speaker will be Dr. Edwin Smith, professor of rheumatology and immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina. The event is free and open to all lupus patients and their family members and friends. For more, call Alice Burress at 886-5859.

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that leads to inflammation and tissue damage to virtually any organ in the body, including the joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, brain, blood or skin.
