Here comes the bride

Saturday, May 23, 2009

It used to be that you could count on brides walking down the aisle to Lohengrin's "Wedding March." At least that was how it happened in the movies. It's not so predictable any more.

Wedding music comes in so many flavors these days that it has spawned an industry.

WeddingMuseum.com recently announced the release of a 66-page book of songs for couples to consider.

There are songs for the processional (the Dixie Cups' "Chapel of Love") and songs for the recessional (Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust"); songs for cake-cutting (Bryan Adams' "Cuts Like a Knife") and songs for garter-removal (Rod Stewart's "Hot Legs"); songs for the wedding dance (Club Nouveau's "Lean on Me") and songs for the getaway (R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World as We Know It").

So when Just the Two of Us have had the Last Dance and see The Party's Over, it's time to say Happy Trails and to Hit the Road, Jack.

I Could Not Ask for More than to Grow Old With You.
