SC land trust urges folks to get back to nature

EDISTO ISLAND - If you're looking to get into the great outdoors this weekend, here's a chance to explore an island on the South Carolina coast.

The Edisto Island Open Land Trust is holding a series of outings and events with top naturalists on Saturday and Sunday.

Sixteen outings, ranging from bird watching to the ABC's of camping are being held on the island southwest of Charleston on Saturday, leaving either from Indigo Farms or the land trust offices in Edisto Center. Both are on state Route 174.

On Sunday, an oak tree dedication will be part of a conservation celebration featuring naturalist Patrick McMillan, who has a show on South Carolina ETV.

Indigo Farms is down Highway 174. It has a concrete fence on the left hand side. If you pass it you can turn around at the Geechie Boy market. (It's on the right hand side.)
