Bell's Brewing
Bell's Brewing, the oldest craft brewery east of Colorado celebrated its launch party earlier this week at the Mellow Mushroom in Charleston.
Its retail launch takes place today at the Charleston Beer Exchange.
Bell's is ranked No. 18 on a list of the Beer Advocate's Top 25 breweries.
Master baker
Piggly Wiggly has hired Chef Angela McCrovitz, an Oprah Winfrey and QVC nominated baking finalist for the 2007 New Innovative Product Award, for her blueberry lemon scones as master baker for its Newton Farms on Kiawah Island.

The Glass Onion restaurant will begin Saturday dinner service starting May 23.

Tristan lounge
The popular $2 martini night has begun to blossom on Tristan's patio on Market Street 5-7 p.m. Wednesday. James Beard Award nominated chef Aaron Deal serves up complimentary hors d'oeuvres such as deviled eggs, chocolate lamb ribs and tempura fried shrimp with white miso dipping sauce. Tristan is at 55 Market St.
Wine weekend
Woodlands Inn master sommelier Robert Bath will lead a weekend filled with food, wine and fun on May 15-16.
One of only 150 people in the world to have achieved the distinction of master sommelier, Bath will hold a series of wine seminars throughout the weekend at the resort.
"Weekend of Wine" is only available for 30 people and pricing begins at $299 per person for Friday's and Saturday's seminars and meals. A special rate of $199 per person is available for Saturday's activities only, and accommodation rates for participants begin at $249 per room per night. All event and room pricing is exclusive of taxes and gratuities.

May 19 at 7 p.m., Il Cortile del Re will serve up "May in Italy," a seafood and wine dinner that supports the South Carolina Aquarium. The first 40 customers who make reservations for the dinner will receive a five-course meal, complete with a wine tasting for each course, for $50 (not including tax and gratuity).
