Tuesday
EDISTO COURT CLOSING: 5:45 p.m., Council Chambers at the Lonnie Hamilton III Public Service Building, 4045 Bridge View Drive, North Charleston. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments to Charleston County Council on the proposed closure of the Edisto Island Magistrate Court.
EXTENDING MARK CLARK: The S.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on the different options for extending the Mark Clark Expressway, from 6-8 p.m. at Johns Island High School, 1518 Main Road.

Charleston County School District will host the second of eight community meetings on its proposed budget for next school year. Parents and area residents are invited to hear a presentation and provide feedback on the district's proposal.
DORCHESTER 2 BUDGET: 7 p.m., the district offices at 102 Green Wave Blvd., Summerville. A public hearing on the Dorchester District 2 operating budget for the 2009-10 school year will be held.
Wednesday
SPRING CARNIVAL: 3-5 p.m. Alhambra Hall Park, 131 Middle St., Mount Pleasant. Children can enjoy jump castles, pony rides, face painting and crafts. 884-2528.
Thursday
EXTENDING MARK CLARK: 6-8 p.m., James Island Charter High School, 1000 Ft. Johnson Road. The S.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on the different options for extending the Mark Clark Expressway.
"A TASTE OF BAKED": 6-8 p.m. Baked Charleston, 160 East Bay St. Dianne Shaver and Susette Latsko, authors of "Bride's Advisor Charleston," will team up with Baked pastry chef Melissa Fritz to discuss wedding cakes and offer advice to brides-to-be. Samples of cupcakes will be provided. 577-2180.

SPRATT DELIVERS CITADEL COMMENCEMENT: 9:30 a.m., McAlister Field House, 171 Moultrie St., Charleston. U.S. Rep. John M. Spratt will deliver the commencement address to The Citadel's Corps of Cadets Class of 2009. Spratt, D-S.C., first was elected to Congress in 1982. He is chairman of the Budget Committee and is the second-ranking Democrat on the Armed Services Committee. He represents the 5th Congressional District.
LEGARE FARMS SPRING PICNIC: 4-8 p.m. Legare Farms, 2620 Hanscombe Point Road, Johns Island. $25 ages 14 and older, $10 ages 5-14. Enjoy a Southern-style spring picnic featuring pork ribs, hamburgers, potato salad, homemade ice cream and more. Activities will include croquet, three-legged races, horseshoe throwing and music by Ricky Rio. Tickets must be purchased in advance. 559-0788.
