Funeral held Sunday for upstate soldier
PELZER - A South Carolina soldier who struggled with a brain injury after being hurt by a roadside bomb 18 months ago has been laid to rest.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reports that 25-year-old U.S. Army Spc. Justin Antisdel was given a funeral Sunday with full military honors.
Antisdel's family says he died March 22 when he had a seizure in his sleep at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
The soldier from Easley had been having seizures since he was injured in October 2007 by a roadside bomb in Iraq.
Antisdel leaves behind a wife and a 4-year-old son.
Platoon leader Lt. Aaron Arntson remembered Antisdel as a quiet up-and-coming leader who led by example.
