St. George Police charged Tommie Moore, 45, with robbing the 1st Federal of South Carolina branch at 5561 W. Memorial Blvd. on March 16, Lt. John Poole said.

Poole said Moore was arrested Saturday in St. George shortly after an officer pulled over his GMC Sonoma that matched the description of a truck used during the robbery.

"It matched it to a T," Poole said.

Officers found evidence inside the truck that led to Moore's arrest, Poole said. He declined to identify the evidence.

Poole said he is working with investigators from the Walterboro and Kingstree police departments to determine if Moore is linked to bank robberies there that date back to late last year.

Poole said the suspect in all three robberies was loud and brazen and waved a gun at bank clerks.

Moore is being held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.

He has spent nearly half of his life locked up. He was convicted of armed robbery four times dating to 1985, including a 21-year sentence for a 1986 conviction in Bamberg, according to court records.

He was released six months early in March 2008 as part of a supervised furlough, a program that was used frequently in the 1980s and 1990s to free up prison space by releasing non-violent offenders, said Peter O'Boyle, communications director for the S.C. Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services.

O'Boyle said Moore successfully finished his probation and was a free man as of September 2008.

Put him out of his and the rest of our miseries; he is a repeat offender and does not deserve to live any longer, nor should we, the taxpayers, be required to pay for him any longer.

Three Hots and a Cot and he does not have to pay the bill.He does not even have to work. He isn't homeless either. He has more rights than the policeman that arrested him.He can get more education in prison than most of us can afford to pay for for our children and grandchildren.
Here is some words from a song sometime back:
Got along without you before I met you
Now gonna get along without you now, good bye, sooo long,
gonna get along without you now.
Are we playing baseball 4 balls you walk or 3 strikes you are out. This guy needs to be sent up the river way up the river.

There is nothing good about crime!

With that being said...he did not kill anyone, so why should his life be forfeit?

mrernurse47 is correct, but to kill him seems a little extreme.

If South Carolina would make the Chain Gang popular again and enforce the laws. When I was growing up the chain gang kept the school yards clean and cut every week,as well as had a farm that they grew and cooked their own food.It was located where the county jail is now all the way to the river and the boat landing.I could hear the (P Farm as we called it back then) bell ring early morning and late evening.Put these guys and women out and make them work cutting the grass with sling blades, clean ditches, paint all the county property as well as the state buildings Yes with their hands.I cannot recall seeing any drainage back up in yards and ECT.because they were cleaned by the Chain gang.Legs shackled,Guards with pump 12 gauge shot gun 00 buck shot stood over and watched and supervised the job.Rain or shine, heat or cold.Jonny Cash has a song out:(I got strips,I got strips around my shoulders,I got strips,I got strips around my legs).Take the Tractors that cost thousands of dollars sell them off and make the tractor drivers guards or find them another job with in state employment. When you arrest someone and put them in jail you take his rights away. When sent to prison or sentenced to jail for a period he should work to earn his keep.No work no freedom. No work, no bath, no clean uniform, until the end of the week.If you work,HOT BATH every night, and a clean uniform every day.Talking about boosting the economy....Sounds Good to me!!!!!!!!!Don't take your gun to Boy,Don't take your gun to town Son.
A mothers last plea before she gets that D-R-E-A-D-E-D call or knock on the door!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Luna: I say we keep him alive in prison as long as you pay for his full room and board. You miss a payment and we send him to the chair. That way everyone is happy. I don't have to pay for him, the state will not be wasting money to keep him alive and you are happy he is not dead.
