Nearly $800,000 in contracts for public housing improvements were awarded Tuesday by Charleston Housing Authority commissioners as part of $3 million the agency has received in federal stimulus funds.
Most of the work is for reroofing and exterior painting at Meeting Street Manor and Wraggborough Homes.
The contracts went to: Charles Blanchard Construction Corp., $249,900, for complete reroofing of Meeting Street Manor and Gadsden Green Extension; Construction Dynamics Inc., $207,000, for exterior painting and wood repair at Meeting Street Manor; RRW Construction Inc., $267,590, for reroofing at Wraggborough Homes and Wraggborough Homes Extension; and Vatos Painting and Contracting, $74,895, for exterior paint and wood repair at Wraggborough Homes and Wraggborough Homes Extension.
Work on the projects will begin between late March to mid-April. Prior to awarding the bids, the Housing Authority board adopted a resolution officially accepting $3,071,883 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
