Smoke advisory for parts of Francis Marion forest cancelled

The National Weather Service has canceled a dense smoke advisory that had been issued for Berkeley and Charleston counties.

The U.S. Forest Service said dense smoke Friday morning had prompted the closure of roads in the Francis Marion National Forest area. Steed Creek Road was closed from Halfway Creek Road west to state Highway 41 in Huger.

The weather service says visibility was less than a quarter mile.

A cold front moving through the area improved conditions.
