Additional charges filed against Belton pastor
BELTON - Anderson County sheriff's deputies have filed more charges against a South Carolina pastor accused of burning his church earlier this month.
The Anderson Independent-Mail reported that 40-year-old Christopher Patrick Daniels of Belton has been charged with making a false statement about vandalism at Blue Ridge Baptist Church, where he was pastor.
Daniels was arrested March 9 by the State Law Enforcement Division, which has accused him of second-degree arson in a fire at the church on March 8.
Daniels was charged March 12 with breach of trust after the reported theft of about $5,000 from the church.
Deputies say Daniels filed four reports of vandalism at the church between Dec. 13 and Jan. 23.
He was being held in the Anderson County jail. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
