Finance Committee meeting

Kessler Consulting's report

Charleston County's Green Ribbon Committee voted today to recommend that County Council close the Spruill Avenue incinerator.

The committee is a 15-member citizens advisory group on solid waste. Fourteen of the members attended the meeting. Of those who attended, 7 voted to recommend closing the incinerator, 6 voted to recommend keeping it open, and one member chose not to vote. The vote was anonymous.

A representative from the committee will make the recommendation to County Council at 4:15 p.m. at the Finance Committee meeting at the Lonnie Hamilton III Public Services Building, 4045 Bridge View Drive, North Charleston.

Mitch Kessler of Kessler Consulting will make his recommendation as well. The county hired Kessler Consulting to produce a 20-year plan to handle the county's solid waste.
