Campbell tests 2010 GOP waters

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

COLUMBIA — Republican Carroll Campbell III has begun raising money and testing the waters for a 2010 GOP primary bid to replace U.S. Rep. Henry Brown.

Campbell told The Associated Press Tuesday that he was talking to donors and not ready to formally announce his plans.

Campbell said he's going to see how that goes before deciding on a bid to unseat Brown from his 1st District seat.

He is the son of the late Gov. Carroll Campbell, who is credited with much of the growth of South Carolina's Republican Party. He held the 4th District U.S. House seat for four terms and won the first of two terms as governor in 1986.

Meanwhile, Paul Thurmond says he's being encouraged to run, too. Thurmond is the son of the late U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond.

I have begun to save pennies and on work on the water. I do not know anyone who can afford to be a donor, so I am waiting to formally announce a run in 2010.

I am the son of an alcoholic, I am the only son from his second of six marriages, and have no blue blood anywhere in my family tree. My father is credited with the growth of the Bar business in Western New York in the early 70's. He has held seats in the Lion's Club, Elk's Club, and is now the Commandant of the American legion.

This is ridiculous, these are two people who have not accomplished anything in their lives, yet they think they are qualified to run for congress because their daddies were politicians.
I do not know Carroll (tup of garbage) Campbell but I think he disqualified himself by his awful tenure on the board of the ports authority (eventually getting himself booted from the board by Sanford)
As for Thurmond, I met this guy and he is a joke. He pronounces his last name at least 2 decibels higher than his first. It's kind of funny "Hi, I'm paul THURMOND"
I am not kidding if it were not so pathetic it would be funny.
